Statement by Governor Corzine on the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama

TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine issued the following statement regarding the selection of President Obama as the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

“Just as his inauguration ushered in a new era of hope for all Americans, President Obama’s selection as the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner gives the citizens of the world renewed faith for a future of peace and prosperity for all nations,” said Governor Corzine. “I am pleased that the Nobel Committee recognized what we in New Jersey have long understood — to make progress for the good of all people, we must move forward together. The Nobel Peace Prize is an extraordinary honor that only three other U.S. Presidents have achieved and I congratulate President Obama on receiving this humbling distinction.”

Let’s keep it going New Jersey!  Let’s make sure President Obama continues to have a partner for change here in the Garden State.
