N.J. launches database for autism resources, services
TRENTON — The state today announced the launch of a database to track the prevalence of autism in New Jersey as well as to help connect parents to treatment and support services for their children.
“Through this registry, families will be referred to appropriate resources in their own communities so they can get the best treatment and care for their children’s special needs,” Gov. Jon Corzine said in a statement.

New Jersey’s solar installation effort outshines the nation
Enough solar energy equipment has been installed in New Jersey in the past three years that it would meet the electricity needs for more than 15,000 houses, Gov. Jon Corzine announced Monday.
As a result, New Jersey now has the most solar installations in the country per square mile, surpassing California by nearly two to one, the governor said a the second annual Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Governors’ Clean Energy Innovation Forum in New Brunswick.

State Helps Thousands to Remain in Homes
Homeowners facing foreclosure are catching a break on a state program aimed at lowering their monthly payments.
More than 2,600 New Jerseyans have gotten counseling through the state’s Foreclosure Mediation Program, according to a statement from Gov. Jon S. Corzine. About 1,450 cases have been completed. About half of those represented by the completed cases have been able to stay in their homes.
“[This] program really is setting the pattern for the country on mortgage modification,” Corzine told The Star-Ledger in a question-and-answer session earlier this month. “It is picking up steam.”

New Jersey Nurses Endorse Corzine for Governor
The New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), representing more than 110,000 nurses statewide, has announced the endorsement by its Interested Nurses Political Action Committee (INPAC) of Democratic gubernatorial incumbent Jon Corzine in the 2009 race.

In other health care related news, Christie would give insurance companies free rein to drop coverage for critical procedures like mammograms and the mandatory 48 hour hospital stay for new mothers. These “bare bones” policies are causing more and more women to speak out against Christie’s plans.

Smack Down! Senator Loretta Weinberg Scores Points on Substance.
This was a historic debate, for sure. Esposito was mere window dressing; Senator Weinberg scored points based on substance and Guadagno tried to look poised. Guadagno tried her best to defend Christie, but fell short of specifics. Eric Scott pressed Guadagno more than once for “one specific example” of the Christie/Guadagno tax plan, and all Guadagno could muster over and over again was that she and Christie would “lift up every rock in Trenton, and shine a light.” Real substance there.
